Transition to School

Is your child starting school next September 2022?

National Offers Day for children who would like a place in the Reception class of a state primary school in the 2022/3 school year was 19th April 2022.

You can find a presentation outlining the transitions process at the bottom of this page.

  • If you applied online, you will have received an email notifying you of your child's school place.  Only families who applied with a paper application will receive a letter.
  • Please formally accept your school place by 2nd May 2022.
  • The deadline for lodging an appeal is 17th May 2022.
  • If you did not receive your first choice of school, we recommend that you accept the place you have been offered and remain on the waiting list for your preferred school.
  • School place allocations for Reading are managed by Brighter Futures for Children.  If you have questions about the admissions process or school allocations they have a very helpful web page.
  • We work closely with the local primary schools to arrange visits from Primary School Teachers and settling in days at the schools, where possible.
  • If you have questions or concerns about any aspect of the transition process, please do speak to your child's Key Person or to the Head of School.  We are happy to help in any way that we can.
  • If your child has additional needs, our Federation Inclusion Manager will work closely with the school SENDCO/Inclusion Manager to discuss your child’s needs and arrange a smooth transition.  We will keep you informed during this process.  If you have questions, please contact
  • Parents of children in the Snowflakes Autism Resource can contact Stacia Beeney for support with school transitions.
